Teeth Whitening 101
Everyone wants to have whiter teeth and we can all agree that having a dazzling smile has a lot of benefits. It does not just improve your confidence, but enhances your overall look as well. There are several obvious, and not so obvious, ways to whiten teeth and here at Welch Dental Group. We offer tooth whitening in Katy, Texas to help people have a brighter and more beautiful smile. In addition, we have outlined different tooth whitening methods that can help your cause!
Brush, Brush, Brush!
Brush your teeth at least two times a day and be sure to apply the correct brushing techniques – small circular strokes at the gum line in a 45 degree angle. Brushing prevents certain food and drinks from staining your teeth. It also prevents food particles from getting stuck in between teeth.
Do-It-Yourself Whitening
Teeth that are slightly stained may benefit from at-home whitening kits. These kits can improve tooth color after a week or two of using it. Furthermore, DIY whitening can improve color by two shades.
Magic of Makeup
Use lipsticks with blue undertone as they make teeth appear brighter. Shades of pink and red also help. If some lipsticks make teeth look brighter, others can make the teeth appear yellow such as one with an orange undertone. Thus you have to be careful when choosing which lipstick to use. The trick is to pick a contrasting color.
Sweep bronzer all over the face. Teeth look brighter when the skin is dark and appears sun kissed.
Stay away from eye shadows that have gold tones. The gold’s shine is very similar to yellow and can emphasize stains. Any gold tones have to be avoided near the lips or the teeth altogether.
Professional Tooth Whitening
If you want a quick and effective way to whiten teeth, opt for professional tooth whitening instead. Here at Welch Dental Group, we utilize Kor Bleaching System, a bleaching method with a carbamide peroxide base that reacts with water and produces hydrogen peroxide, a potent whitening agent. Hydrogen peroxide goes into the enamel’s porous structure and breaks down stain buildup on the tooth’s surface and dentin layer. The reagent reacts to an intraoral bleaching blue light, hastening the process.
The results are incredible and more information about the Kor Whitening can be found here.
